I'm more or less like everyone else you know, except perhaps I draw more. I love working with my hands and metal parts fabrication, the most recent of which was carving out a new crank for my very old bicycle. This is my private blog. My public blog is available at http://www.talesofaneoluddite.net, where you can also track projects and illustration work I have in the pipe.
I used to be employed as a professional nerd, which means that though I'm not terrifically interested in them, I did things like data systems management and web design. Technically, my title was administrator. The description on my most recent contract took up seven lines of listed possible jobs, and ended with "and other administrative tasks," which I guess covers the time I learned to use a rotary saw and installed all our air conditioners. Having developed an exit strategy for this career in the height of the Great Recession, I really could use an Entrance Strategy for another one. Preferably one just as relaxed about what I have to wear to work.
I enjoy customizing my bicycle, which is a wanky single-speed flip fixed-gear, reading, and moderating the
suckitupdyke community, which is a source of boundless drama and therefore limitless amusement. I really do read an awful lot. Most of it is pure garbage. The rest is about economics.
For my flist: Ask and I'll probably add you, I'm really not that picky. I'd like to know if you've friended me, since I don't often check.
